Microwave diathermy for treating nonspecific chronic neck pain: a randomized controlled trial

OE Journal. 2014;2(19):34 Spine J. 2014 Aug 1;14(8):1712-21149 patients with nonspecific neck pain were randomly allocated into three groups: 1) continuous microwaves, 2) pulsed microwaves and 3) unplugged microwave diathermy (control group). All patients also performed range of motion and isometric exercises, and recevied transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of microwave diathermy to treat nonspecific chronic neck pain. All three treatment groups showed improvement in pain and disability, although no differences were found between the therapeutic groups.
