Microfracture Versus Arthroscopic Debridement for the Treatment of Symptomatic Cartilage Lesions of the Knee: 2-Year Results From a Multicenter Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Trial.
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Am J Sports Med . 2025 Jul;53(9):2107-2117.Study Summary
65 patients with symptomatic cartilage lesion of the knee were randomised to receive Arthroscopic Debridement (AD) (n=34) or Microfracture (MF) (n=31). The primary outcome of interest was Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) Quality of Life (QoL) sub score. The secondary outcomes of interest were KOOS for all other subscales, Tegner activity scale, Lysholm score, Visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and complications. Outcomes were measured for 2 years. The results of the study revealed that there was no statistically significant difference between the groups in all outcomes any time point during the 2-year follow-up period. Lastly, while the incidence of complications was greater in the MF group, there was no significant difference between the groups.
