Micro-fragmented Adipose Tissue Versus Platelet-Rich Plasma for the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
Microfragmented Adipose Tissue Versus Platelet-Rich Plasma for the Treatment of Knee Osteoarthritis: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial at 2-Year Follow-up
Am J Sports Med. 2022 Sep;50(11):2881-2892. doi: 10.1177/03635465221115821. Epub 2022 Aug 19.. 2022 01-Aug;():. 10.1177/03635465221115821One hundred and eighteen patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive either intra-articular micro-fragmented adipose tissue injections (MF-AT; n=59) or platelet-rich plasma injections (PRP; n=59). The primary outcome of this trial was the change in International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) scores and pain subscale of the Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) from baseline to 6 months. Other outcomes such as KOOS subscales for functional improvement, EuroQol visual analog scale (EQ-VAS), EuroQol 5 Dimensions (EQ-5D), and Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for pain at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months. MRI findings using the Whole-Organ Magnetic Resonance Imaging (WORMS) score was also assessed. Statistically significant improvements in all clinical scores were apparent in the MF-AT group, except for EQ-VAS scores. IKDC and KOOS scores improved from baseline to 6 months.
