Comparison of 2 Manual Therapy and Exercise Protocols for Cervical Radiculopathy: A Randomized Clinical Trial Evaluating Short-Term Effects
J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2015 Jan;45(1):4-17.36 patients with cervical radiculopathy (CR) were randomized to either receive manual therapy and exercise with a focus on increasing the size of the intervertebral foramen (IVF) of the affected nerve root, or a similar treatment without this specific aim. The purpose of the study was to compare these two interventions. The primary outcome, Neck Disability Index, as well as the secondary outcomes of QuickDASH and a numeric rating scale score, indicated no significant difference between the two groups when assessed at 4 and 8 weeks. Both groups demonstrated significant improvement from baseline in all three measures, however.
