Benefits on pain and mental health of manual therapy for idiopathic scoliosis: A meta-analysis

17 randomized controlled trials (956 patients) were included in this meta-analysis comparing manual therapy (Tuina) vs. control for the improvement of mental health and clinical outcomes. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain, mental health, disability, Cobb angle, and vertebral rotation. Pooled outcomes of interest found that Tuina therapy resulted in significantly better-pooled pain scores and Cobb angle (vs. medicine/pharmaceutical controls), improved mental health and disability, and superior pooled vertebral rotation when combined with other conservative therapies.
