Closed reduction of Colles fractures: comparison of manual manipulation and finger-trap traction: a prospective, randomized study
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2002 Mar;84-A(3):354-8223 patients with 225 displaced Colles-type fractures were randomized to closed reduction treatment with either finger-trap traction or manual manipulation. The fractures were assessed radiographically by measurement of the radial angle, dorsal tilt, and radial shortening for 5 weeks after reduction. No significant differences were found in alignment, and both groups had equal rates of satisfactory reductions and similar failure rates.
