Outcomes of the Management of Distal Radius Fractures in the Last 5 Years: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials
Rev Bras Ortop (Sao Paulo) . 2022 Dec 16;57(6):899-910.2,013 distal radius fractures from 20 studies published in the last 5 years were analyzed in this meta-analysis comparing volar locking plate fixation and external fixation. Functional outcomes, including the Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score and the Patient Reported Wrist Evaluation (PRWE) were pooled. The results found no differences between volar locking plate fixation and external fixation in both DASH and PRWE scores. However, when comparing volar locking plate fixation with vs. without pronator quadratus repair, no repair resulted in significantly better pooled DASH scores.
