Effects of lumbar-pelvic training combined with electroacupuncture on chronic nonspecific low back pain.

120 patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain were randomized to receive either lumbar-pelvic training with electroacupuncture (LP + EA; n=30), electroacupuncture alone (EA; n=30), lumbar-pelvic training alone (LP; n=30), or no intervention (n=30). Outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and function on the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) before and after the treatment. Overall efficacy was also assessed after 2 weeks. VAS and ODI scores were significantly better in all three intervention groups compared to the no-intervention group. The LP + EA group showed significantly better VAS and ODI scores when compared to the LP and EA-only groups. With regard to self-efficacy, LP + EA was better than LP and EA-only groups.
