Comparison of a low-pressure and a high-pressure pulsatile lavage during debridement for orthopaedic implant infection
Arch Orthop Trauma Surg. 2011 Sep;131(9):1233-8. doi: 10.1007/s00402-011-1291-8. Epub 2011 Mar 979 patients were randomized to compare the effectiveness of high-pressure pulsatile lavage and low-pressure lavage during open debridement of orthopaedic implant infections. Patients received either low- or high-pressure pulsatile lavage and were assessed after 1 year. The use of high-pressure lavage was revealed to have a similar success rate as low-pressure lavage during open debridement of implant infections.
