Low-molecular-weight heparin prophylaxis may reduce DVT incidence after knee arthroscopy .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2014;2(11):11 Arthroscopy. 2014 Mar;30(3):406-12. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2013.12.021.13 studies (4 RCTs, 9 prospective level IV studies) comprised of 3,998 patients were analyzed in this systematic review/meta-analysis to investigate any prophylaxis appearing in literature used to prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT) after arthroscopic knee surgery. Upon analysis, patients who received low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) prophylaxis had a pooled risk ratio of 0.18 for the development of DVT compared those who did not receive prophylaxis. Additionally, the rate of proximal DVT was markedly reduced in LMWH patients [11.1% (4/36 cases)] compared to patients who did not receive prophylaxis [21.3% (29/136 cases)].
