Long-term effectiveness of conservative management for lateral epicondylitis: a meta-analysis.
J Plast Surg Hand Surg . 2023 Aug 24:58:67-73.16 randomized controlled trials (1756 patients) comparing different conservative treatments for the management of lateral epicondylitis against a control were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included pain and function. The use of exercise, corticosteroid injections, and platelet-rich plasma did not provide any benefits against a control in pain and functional outcomes. Extracorporeal shockwave therapy, however, improved pain scores but provided no benefit in functional outcomes. The use of extracorporeal shockwave therapy may be an effective treatment option for lateral epicondylitis.
