A comparison of the long gamma nail with the sliding hip screw for the treatment of AO/OTA 31-A2 fractures of the proximal part of the femur: a prospective randomized trial
J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2010 Apr;92(4):792-8.210 patients admitted to the hospital with an AO/OTA 31-A2 fracture of the proximal part of the femur were randomized to be fixed with either a dynamic hip screw or a long gamma nail. At 1 year follow up, no differences in the clinical outcomes between the sliding hip screw and the long gamma nails for the fixation of AO/OTA 31-A2 fractures of the proximal femur were observed.
