Local Anesthetic Vs A Brachial Plexus Block for Hand Surgery .
Patient-Reported Quality of Recovery after Local Anesthesia versus Brachial Plexus Block in Hand Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Study.
Plast Reconstr Surg . 2023 Dec 1;152(6):1287-1296.98 patients undergoing hand surgery were randomized to receive either local anesthetic (LA; n=54) or a brachial plexus block (n=44). The primary outcome of interest was Quality of Recovery-15 (QoR-15). Secondary outcomes of interest included postoperative pain on a Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), opioid consumption, block performance time, block onset time, total anesthesia time, and time in the postoperative anesthesia care unit (PACU). QoR-15, pain, opioid consumption, total anesthesia time, and time in PACU were comparable between the two groups. Block performance time and block onset time were significantly better in the LA group compared to the BP group.
