Effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) in the development of exercise-induced skeletal muscle fatigue and changes in biochemical markers related to postexercise recovery
J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2010 Aug;40(8):524-329 national level volleyball players were randomized to low-level laser therapy (LLLT) or placebo 2 min before undergoing the exercise, causing exertion of biceps muscle. In this crossover designed RCT, the LLLT treatment resulted in a significant increase of submaximal elbow flexions to exhaustion compared to the placebo. Post exercise biochemical markers associated with inflammation and damage (C-reactive protein, creatine kinase and lactate) were significantly lower in the LLLT treatment group.
