The use of autologous PRP gel as an aid in the management of acute trauma wounds

59 patients with acute trauma wounds were randomized to either receive application of a topical platelet-rich plasma (PRP) gel or receive treatment using conventional methods. This trial demonstrated that the use of PRP gel resulted in significantly faster healing rates at 1, 2 and 3 weeks, and decreased the time required for adequate tissue regeneration, therefore allowing patients to undergo reconstructive surgery sooner. In addition, patients who received treatment with the PRP gel had less pain compared to those receiving conventional treatment.
