Short-term effects of interferential current electro-massage in adults with chronic non-specific low back pain: a randomized controlled trial

62 patients with chronic, non-specific low back pain of mechanical origin were randomized to determine the efficacy of combined electro-massage therapy as a treatment option. Participants were allocated to either electro-massage therapy or to a control treatment of superficial massage only. The treatments consisted of 20 sessions over 10 weeks. At post-treatment evaluation, patients who had received electro-massage therapy experienced significantly better pain, disability, and physical health-related quality of life scores compared to the control.
