Resistant tennis elbow: shock-wave therapy versus percutaneous tenotomy
Int Orthop. 2008 Oct;32(5):671-7. Epub 2007 Jun 662 patients with lateral humeral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) were randomized to either receive treatment with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) or percutaneous release of common extensor origin to compare conservative and invasive treatment methods. The results following a 12 month follow-up indicated that both groups improved in pain scores and grip strength from baseline measures; although, there were no differences between the ESWT and percutaneous tenotomy treatments.
