Safety and efficacy of denosumab in osteoporotic patients previously treated with other medications: a systematic review and metaanalysis

6 randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis which aimed to compare increase in bone mineral density measurements between denosumab and other active anti-osteoporosis medications among postmenopausal women with osteoporosis and who had previously been administered anti-osteoporosis therapy. In pooled analyses, percent increase in bone mineral density measured at the total hip, femoral neck, and lumbar spine all demonstrated significant differences in favour of groups which had switched to denosumab versus groups who had switched to another active anti-osteoporosis medication.
