A Prospective Randomized Comparison of Spinal Versus Local Anesthesia With Propofol Infusion for Knee Arthroscopy
Arthroscopy. 2006 May;22(5):479-8332 patients undergoing knee arthroscopy were randomised to receive either a spinal anaesthesia intervention or local anaesthesia in conjunction with propofol infusion. The primary outcome was time to home readiness (Measured as time in the postoperative anaesthesia care unit (PACU)). Results indicated that the local anaesthesia intervention in conjunction with propofol infusion resulted in shorter time to home readiness, but also had a greater likelihood of requiring additional sedation.
