Kinesiotaping Is Not Better Than a Placebo: Kinesiotaping for Postural Control in Anterior Cruciate Ligament-Reconstructed Patients-A Randomized Controlled Trial.
J Sport Rehabil . 2024 Mar 26;33(4):245-251.Thirty-two patients with ACL reconstructions were randomized to receive either kinesiotaping (KT) (n=16) or placebo KT (n=16). The primary outcome was postural control, measured by center of pressure (CoP) variables and mean total velocity displacement of CoP (MVELO CoP). Secondary outcomes included the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) score, measured immediately and at 48 hours post-intervention. Overall, the study found no significant differences between the KT and placebo groups in improving postural control, though both groups showed improvements at different time points. These findings suggest that the observed improvements in postural control may be due to proprioceptive enhancement rather than the specific KT pattern.
