Does joint mobilization effectively improve chronic ankle instability ? A systematic review and meta-analysis.

8 randomized controlled trials including 318 patients with chronic ankle instability were included in this meta-analysis assessing the effect of joint mobilization compared to a control treatment (placebo, no treatment, conventional treatment) on ankle joint function, range of motion, and pain. Meta-analysis results revealed that joint mobilization effectively improves ankle function (p=0.02) and range of motion (p<0.001), but did not improve ankle pain (p=0.18).
