Effect of Joint Mobilization in Individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

A meta-analysis of 9 randomized controlled trials including 364 patients was conducted to compare joint mobilization (n=207) versus control (no intervention, sham, exercise; n=157) on dorsiflexion range of motion, dynamic balance, and function. Subgroup analyses of joint mobilization with and without voluntary movement were also conducted. Overall dorsiflexion range of motion and dynamic balance favored the control group. No significant differences were reported in function when considering overall joint mobilization and subgroups.
