2013 ISASS Annual Meeting: 7-year Reoperation Rates: Results of a Prospective, Randomized Clinical Trial: Cervical Total Disc Replacement vs. Fusion

OE Journal. 2013;1(3):77345 patients experiencing single-level symptomatic cervical degenerative disc disease were divided into randomized and non-randomized groups. The 209 patients in the randomized group were randomized to undergo either cervical artificial disc replacement (C-ADR) or anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), in order to compare the reoperation rates of the two surgical procedures. Following evaluations over a 7 year period, results indicated that the overall reoperation rate was lower in patients who underwent C-ADR in comparison to ACDF.
