2013 ISASS Annual Meeting: Minimally Invasive Surgery for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis - Modified Marmot Operation versus Spinous Process Transverse Cutting Laminectomy

OE Journal. 2013;1(3):8252 patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) were randomized to be treated with either modified Marmot operation (MM) or spinous process transverse cutting laminectomy through a unilateral approach (control). The study aimed to investigate whether preventing the exposure of paravertebral muscles (PVM) though MM technique affected clinical outcomes. After a year of evaluation, MM operation indicated better Japanese Orthopaedic Association Back Pain Questionnaire (JOABPEQ) scores, blood loss, and C - reactive protein and creatine phosphokinase levels.
