2017 ISAKOS Congress : Alignment and functional results do not improve with patient-specific positioning guides in total knee replacement - a prospective multicenter randomized trial

109 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to have the surgery completed with either the use of patient-specific instrumentation or conventional instruments. Patients were assessed for lower limb and component alignment on CT, clinical outcome measures, and knee range of motion over a 2-year follow-up. Despite significant differences in individual component angles between groups, overall lower limb hip-knee-ankle angle did not significantly differ between groups. Clinical outcomes also did not significantly differ between groups.
