ISAKOS2017: Comparing results of UKA versus TKA for medial compartment osteoarthritis
Total or partial knee arthoplasty for medial osteoarthritis? Early Results from the TOPKAT trial
528 patients with end-stage medial compartment knee osteoarthritis were randomized to undergo either unicompartmental knee arthroplasty or total knee arthroplasty. Patients were followed for 1-year postoperatively. Results demonstrated significantly greater function on the Oxford Knee Score and satisfaction among those who underwent UKA in comparison to TKA. The rate of failure within 1 year did not significantly differ between groups.
