2013 ISAKOS Congress : Brace or no brace after ACL-graft? Four-year results of a prospective clinical trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(6):10264 patients underwent anteroir cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and were randomized to receive a postoperative stabilizing knee brace or not. Patients who were given the brace were instructed to wear it for 6 weeks. Results at 4-year follow-up indicated that bracing had no effect on functional outcome and x-ray findings in comparison to non-bracing. Furthermore, pain and the single-hop leg test were observed to be significantly better in patient not receiving a knee brace, calling into question the efficacy of bracing following ACL reconstruction.
