2015 10th Biennial ISAKOS Congress : HA vs PRP: Double-Blind RCT Comparing Clinical Outcomes and Intra-Articular Biology for Treatment of Knee Arthritis

OE Journal. 2015;3(12):19111 patients were randomized to receive either platelet-rich plasma (PRP) or hyaluronic acid (HA) in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. The purpose of this study was to compare pain, function and biologic factors measured up to 6 months after treatment. Results found that PRP provided significantly greater improvements in pain and function over the 6 month period. Further assessments are needed to confirm these findings and evaluate the effectiveness of PRP in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis over a longer follow-up period.
