2015 10th Biennial ISAKOS Congress : Patellar Tendinopathy: Hyaluronan Injection Therapy

16 male patients with patellar tendinopathy were randomized into two group, and either received injections of hyaluronic acid or corticosteroid, one injection every two weeks for a total of three injections. The purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy of hyaluronic acid and corticosteroid injection therapy. Results demonstrated no benefit of corticosteroid injections, with treatment suspended early. Hyaluronic acid treatment demonstrated significant improvement across all scores assessed, with the majority of patients returning to pre-injury activity levels.
