Tranexamic acid use in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair is an effective and safe adjunct to improve visualization: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Seven studies including 537 patients with rotator cuff tears were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing tranexamic acid (TXA) versus no TXA in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR). Pooled outcomes of interest included visual clarity, total operative time, postoperative pain scores, blood loss, shoulder swelling, and adverse events. TXA significantly improved visual clarity and reduced operative time, while no significant differences were observed in pain, blood loss, or swelling. No TXA-related adverse events were reported. Overall, TXA appears to enhance visualization and efficiency without compromising safety, suggesting it is a beneficial addition in ARCR.
