OE Journal. 2013;1(9):43 Phys Ther. 2010 Oct;90(10):1441-52. Epub 2010 Jul 29.30 women with radiologically confirmed mild or moderate knee osteoarthritis (defined as a score of >=2 on the Kellgren and Lawrence (K-L) scale) were randomly assigned to receive Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES) treatments 3 times per week for 4 weeks or no treatment. After the 4 week treatment with NMES, it was found to be insufficient in inducing strength or activating gains in the quadriceps muscle.
