Evaluation of Early Postoperative Pain and the Effectiveness of Perifracture Site Injections Following Volar Plating for Distal Radius Fractures
J Hand Surg Am. 2010 Nov;35(11):1787-94.44 patients who had undergone volar plating for a distal radius fracture were randomized to receive the pain control regimens of axillary nerve block alone or axillary nerve block combined with fracture site injections of local anesthetic. The group with the additional fracture site injections did not show additional benefits in regards to pain control in comparison to the axillary nerve block group.
