Intra-articular corticosteroid injection in diabetic patients with adhesive capsulitis: A randomized controlled trial
Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2012 Oct;20(10):1947-52. Epub 2011 Nov 24.45 diabetic patients with idiopathic adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder were included in this trial to determine the safety and efficacy of corticosteroid injections in this population. Patients were randomized to receive a corticosteroid injection in combination with instructions for a home stretching exercise program or instructions for a home stretching exercise program alone. The results of this study suggest that corticosteroid injections significantly improve short term pain, function and range of motion, and are safe for use in diabetic patients with idiopathic adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder.
