Intense pulsed light treatment of chronic mid-body Achilles tendinopathy: A double blind randomised placebo-controlled trial
Bone Joint J. 2013 Apr;95(4):504-9. doi: 10.1302/0301-620X.95B4.3055847 patients with chronic mid-portion Achilles tendinopathy were randomized to either receive intense pulsed light therapy (IPL) or a sham IPL treatment in order to determine whether the technique would improve short-term function and pain. Following 12 weeks of assessments, results indicated that there were no significant differences in any of the pain and functional scores between those who received IPL treatment versus who received the placebo treatment.
