Infraclavicular Vs Costaclavicular Approaches to an Ultrasound-Guided Brachial Plexus Block .
Infraclavicular versus costoclavicular approaches to ultrasound-guided brachial plexus block: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Braz J Anesthesiol . 2024 Mar-Apr;74(2):744465.Five randomized controlled trials including 374 patients undergoing distal upper extremity surgeries were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing costoclavicular versus infraclavicular approaches to ultrasound-guided brachial plexus block. Pooled outcomes of interest included sensory block onset time, motor block onset time, performance time, block failure, and complications. The pooled results indicated no statistically significant differences between the two techniques in terms of sensory block onset time, motor block onset time, performance time, block failure rates, or complication rates. The main findings suggest that both techniques offer similar efficacy and safety profiles for brachial plexus block in this patient population.
