A Prospective Comparison of Cement Restrictor Migration in Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty
J Arthroplasty. 2006 Jan;21(1):92-632 patients were randomized to receive either a ultra high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) cement restrictor or a biodegradable cement restrictor as part of a total hip arthroplasty (THA) procedure. The primary outcome was migration behaviour and the results indicated that the biodegradable restrictor allowed for significantly more migration compared to the UHMWPE restrictor, making the biodegradable restrictor an inferior alternative.
