OE Journal. 2013;1(10):17 J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2013 May 1;95(9):790-8. doi: 10.2106/JBJS.I.01780131 patients diagnosed with Morton's neuroma were randomized to determine the efficacy of a corticosteroid injection as a treatment option. Participants were allocated to receive an injection of methylprednisolone and lignocaine, or an injection of lignocaine alone (control). Blinded evaluation of outcomes was performed for 3 months post-injection. Results after 3 months indicated that foot-specific health was significantly better in the corticosteroid group compared to control. Injection of methylprednisolone was also associated with significant improvement in a number of dimensions of pain when compared to control injections.
