Epub 2012 May 7246 patients with nonmetastatic osteosarcoma were randomized to evaluate the addition of ifosfamide to a primary chemotherapy regimen of methotrexate, cisplatin, and doxorubicin, with patients allocated to chemotherapy with or without ifosfamide. After a median follow-up of 76 months, there was no difference between groups in overall survival, event-free survival, and the percentage of patients with a good response to primary chemotherapy. Moreover, those treated with ifosfamide displayed significantly greater hematologic toxicity.
