Intra-articular Tranexamic Acid in Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty: Meta-analysis
J Knee Surg. 2018 Jan;31(1):56-67Sixteen studies were included in this meta-analysis, which compared the effect of intra-articular tranexamic acid to placebo for outcomes related to blood loss, transfusion rate, and adverse events. Pooled analyses demonstrated significant differences in favour of IA-TXA for all efficacy outcomes, including total blood loss, postoperative blood loss, transfusion rate, and hemoglobin drop. Rates of complications, including wound complications and thromboembolic complications, did not significantly differ between groups in pooled analyses.
