A randomized controlled trial of home telerehabilitation for post-knee arthroplasty
J Telemed Telecare. 2011;17(4):195-8. doi: 10.1258/jtt.2010.100602. Epub 2011 Mar 1148 patients were randomized to assess the effectiveness of home telerehabilitation following total knee arthroplasty (TKA) on improving disability and function. Patients received either usual care or telerehabilitation (conducted by physiotherapists using videoconferencing to the patient’s home through an internet connection) and were assessed after 2 months. Results revealed that home telerehabilitation led to comparable clinical outcomes as usual care, indicating the potential to increase therapy access in areas with high speed internet services.
