Comparison of high-intensity laser therapy and combination of ultrasound treatment and transcutaneous nerve stimulation in patients with cervical spondylosis: a randomized controlled trial

84 patients with cervical spondylosis were randomized to treatment with either 6 weeks of high-intensity laser therapy or 6 weeks of combined ultrasound and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy. Patients were assessed for outcome on a visual analog scale for pain and the Neck Disability Index at 4 weeks following the completion of treatment. Results demonstrated significant within-group improvement for both groups in each of the VAS pain and NDI measures, while pain reduction was reported to be significantly greater among those administered high-intensity laser therapy.
