Short-term Effectiveness of High-intensity Laser Therapy in De Quervain Tenosynovitis: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Study.

64 patients with de Quervain tenosynovitis were randomized to receive splinting alongside 5 weeks of high-intensity laser therapy (n=32) or sham laser therapy (n=32). Outcomes of interest included pain, grip strength, function, and quality of life, all measured at baseline and after 5 weeks of treatment. High-intensity laser therapy significantly improved pain and grip strength compared to sham; functional scores were not statistically significant, but trended in favour of the high-intensity group (p=0.084). No difference in quality of life was observed between the two groups.
