OE Journal. 2013;1(12):264 J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2011 May 18;93(10):942-7.66 patients with an intertrochanteric proximal femur fracture, who met the inclusion criteria, were randomized to surgical fixation with either a Gotfried percutaneous compression plate (PCCP) or the conventional fixation with sliding hip screw (SHS) for treatment of A1 and A2 AO/OTA intertrochanteric proximal femoral fractures. The percutaneous compression plate was found to be favorable with regards to operating times, incision length, and blood loss. Other outcome measures (ability to walk independently, Quality of Life, level of pain with activity) showed no statistically significant differences.
