The effect of focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy on myofascial pain syndrome of trapezius: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Eight studies including 371 patients were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis examining the effectivness of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in patients with myofascial pain syndrome of the trapezius. Only five of the eight studies were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled outcome of interest was pain scores on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results revealed significantly favourable pooled VAS pain scores in the focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy group compared to the control group.
