OE Journal. 2014;2(18):17 Wien Klin Wochenschr. 2010 Oct;122(19-20):584-740 patients undergoing surgery for bimalleolar ankle fractures were randomized to receive anesthesia with either an ultrasound-guided femoro-popliteal block (FPB) or with spinal anesthesia. Patients were assessed for the duration of postoperative analgesia and onset of complete sensory motor block. It was found that while levels of anesthesia in both groups was sufficient, the FPB group had a longer duration of postoperative analgesia and the spinal anesthesia group had a faster onset of complete sensory motor block.
