Reproducibility of femoral offset following short stem and straight stem total hip arthroplasty
Orthopedics. 2014 Jul 1;37(7):e678-8480 patients scheduled to undergo total hip arthroplasty were randomly assigned into 1 of 2 groups to determine if short stem prostheses resulted in femoral offsets comparable to those obtained with standard stem prostheses in patients undergoing a minimally invasive anterolateral approach. Patients either received a short stem (Fitmore; Zimmer, Warsaw, Indiana) or straight stem prosthesis (CLS; Zimmer). Results from the study indicated that pre and postoperative (6 week) implant offset was comparable between the two groups. HHS, SF-36, and WOMAC scores were also similar between the two groups by final follow up (6 weeks).
