Sixty four patients undergoing anatomical double-bundle ACL reconstruction with a hamstring autograft were randomized to receive a preoperative femoral nerve block (FNB, n=32) or an adductor canal block (ACB, n=32). The primary outcome of interest was pain measured with a visual analogue scale (0-100) in the postoperative period. Secondary outcomes of interest included postoperative range of motion, contraction of the vastus medialis and stable walking. There was no significant differences found in pain scores, range of motion, muscular contraction or stable walking between the two groups.
