Subsartorial adductor canal vs femoral nerve block for analgesia after total knee replacement

OE Journal. 2015;3(12):4 Int Orthop. 2015 Apr;39(4):673-80.60 patients undergoing bilateral total knee arthroplasty had a femoral nerve block performed for one knee and an adductor canal block for the other. The study was conducted to determine efficacy of targeted nerve blocking on motor function, pain, and patient satisfaction postoperatively. Patients were assessed at 6-8 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours postoperatively. The comparison yielded no overall significant results favoring either intervention for pain scores or motor function.
