Femoral nerve block vs fascia iliaca block for total knee arthroplasty postoperative pain control: a prospective, randomized controlled trial

104 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive either a fascia iliaca block (FIB) or femoral nerve block (FNB), in order to compare which block technique provided better postoperative analgesia. After 3 months, the results of this study deomnstrated that there were no significant differences in VAS pain scores, amount of fentanyl and tramadol required, incidence of nausea and vomiting, and knee range of motion between the two groups.
