Femoral Nerve Blockade Administered Preclinically for Pain Relief in Severe Knee Trauma is More Feasible and Effective than Intravenous Metamizole: A Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2013;1(2):248 J Trauma. 2008 Jun;64(6):1535-852 patients presenting with painful knee trauma, who required transportation before treatment, were randomized to administration of either a femoral nerve block or an IV metamizole injection at the injury site. Patients with painful knee trauma experienced an early reduction of pain, anxiety, vasoconstriction, and tachycardia when they were administered with a femoral nerve blockade before hospitalization rather than intravenous metamizole.
